As your state MEP National Network Partner, Missouri Enterprise is your connection to the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) MEP-Assisted Technology and Technical Resource (MATTR) service. MATTR provided small and medium sized manufacturers direct access to wide-ranging, world-class technical expertise available at NIST research laboratories and user facilities. In some approved instances, an MEP can cover the costs for NIST lab staff to assist our Missouri Manufacturers, potentially up to $50,000 worth of assistance.

MATTR services can help Missouri Manufacturers resolve issues with products and processes by reducing lead times typically required to research viable technical solutions. After an initial consultation with all involved parties, a plan is developed that may involve a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) for any research work done at NIST on behalf of the manufacturing client. NIST MEP/MATTR may cover some or all of the costs of this research (up to $50,000) done at NIST.

MATTR services can help MEP Center clients solve challenges in areas such as:

• Quality and measurement practices, including calibrations or special measurement services.
• How to adopt and integrate new developments to existing technologies such as robotics.
• Understanding entirely new approaches to manufacturing such as those enabled by the Digital Thread in Manufacturing/Industry 4.0.
• How to best make use of industry standards and best practices relevant to process technologies and materials.
• Opportunities for licensing NIST-developed technologies for manufacturing applications.
